[EDITORIAL] Like father, like son: The bloody trail of disappearances continues

Even though 51 years have passed since martial law was declared, the late dictator’s legacy of killings and enforced disappearances continues to haunt voices of dissent at present.

With another Marcos in power, the uncomfortable parallels between then and now are indeed impossible to ignore. As before, those who dare to fight for human rights are still being picked out like a pebble in a dictator’s shoe.

[EDITORIAL] Behind classroom walls are layers of neglect

Despite taking up a lion’s share of the national budget last year, DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte has barely addressed long-standing issues on limited classrooms and teachers. This year’s International Literacy Day is a reminder for her that more students will continue falling into the learning gap, so long as basic services remain inadequate.

Children today will soon become professionals, stakeholders, and members of society. If they grow up to be incompetent and unskilled because of a faulty learning system, our future as a nation is bound to crumble and fall.

[EDITORYAL] Pagpapanggap ang paggunita nila kay Plaridel

Kung tunay ang hangarin ng gobyernong makamit ang malayang pamamahayag, kailangan nitong alisin ang busal sa mata at bibig ng mga modernong Plaridel at tuluyang wasakin ang kultura ng karahasan.

Ang midyang sinisiil at pilit na pinipigil ay pilit ding magpupumiglas. Hindi ito titigil na ipaglaban ang kanyang kalayaan at pagsilbihan ang sambayanan, dayuhan man o kababayan ang makatunggali.
