Satire post falsely claims gov’t held prayer meeting, declared Kara David persona non grata over birthday wish

A viral post claiming the government held a prayer meeting and declared veteran journalist Kara David persona non grata in multiple areas for wishing death upon corrupt individuals on her birthday is satirical.

The Sept. 18 post by X user @hecklerforever8 bore an image with the text:

Journalist Kara David’s wish on her 52nd birthday: “Mamatay lahat ng kurakot sa Pilipinas.” This prompted Malacañang and both houses of Congress to call for an emergency prayer meeting.

It added “82 provinces and 146 cities have declared Kara persona non grata.”

A Sept. 16 video posted on David’s official Facebook page previously showed the journalist holding a cake and making a wish on her 52nd birthday. She said at the 0:20 mark.

Sana mamatay na lahat ng kurakot.

But neither the Palace nor Congress held a prayer meeting over this wish. No province or city in the country has also pronounced David persona non grata.

Still, believing the claims to be true, several netizens called the supposed persona non grata declarations a “sign of guilt.”

A netizen wrote:

Ahahhah…umamin cla indirectly ????????

Meanwhile, another shared the post, saying:

Well you know what they say, kung takot may tinatago. Kung malinis konsensya patay malisya.

The satirical post went viral as allegations of corruption hound various politicians and contractors linked to anomalous flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
