The University of the Philippines demolished the University of Santo Tomas, 2-0, to book the finals ticket and the chance to defend its title in the 74th UAAP Men’s Football competitions Wednesday at the Ateneo Football Field.
Ghanaian Ayi Nii Aryee of the UP Booters blasted two goals, one in the 14th minute and the other at the 49th minute, to give the defending champs a twice-to-beat advantage in the championship match after securing the top spot in the standings with 19 points.
Despite his stellar performance, Ayi, however, is suspended in their non-bearing game against the University of the East on Sunday after getting a red card at the end of the match.
UP will now appear in its third finals appearance in four years, stamping its dominance as one of the powerhouse collegiate football teams today.
