Botong Isko: 6 out of 8 bets run unopposed in CSWCD

by Judielyn Agua

Six of eight candidates will run unopposed in the College of Social Work and Development (CSWCD) Student Council elections, according to the official list released by the College Electoral Board.

Unlike the previous year of an independent-led Council, the local chapter of the Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP (STAND UP) is unrivalled for all posts, except for social work representative where independent candidate Apple Mac Ignaras will vie against the local party’s Alfonso Mendoza III.

All six hopefuls hail from the Community Development (CD) department, with junior Mark Makapinlac as the sole chairperson candidate.

Meanwhile, Cecilia Danica Marie Dizon and Christine Rose Lapada are running for vice chairperson for internal affairs and vice chairperson for external affairs, respectively, while Daniel Renz Roc is STAND UP’s bet for college representative to the University Student Council.

Calvin Jericsson Chung and Maricar Centeno are both unopposed as finance officer and CD representative, respectively while no candidates were fielded in for secretary general and graduate representative.

According to election rules, unopposed candidates need a two-thirds majority vote in order to be elected.
