BC Reps-elect call to honor abstentions, CSEB: ‘no rules’ on abstain votes

The newly-declared College of Mass Communication Student Council (CMCSC) Broadcast Communication (BC) Representatives released an online statement urging the College Student Electoral Board (CSEB) to honor the validity of the abstentions in the April 11 polls.

“Ignoring the abstain votes is going against the students’ right to choose their representatives,” BC Representative-elect Sophia Gabrielle Vizcarra said in a Facebook post.

Vizcarra called for special elections both for the two BC representatives posts and the remaining communication research representative position.

CMCSC bets clash views on nat’l, local college issues

Tensions ran high among candidates while calling for accountability from the current College of Mass Communication Student Council (CMCSC) on their work ethic and the CMC Affiliates Program (CAP), which gathers student volunteers for council projects.

Incumbent CMC Representative to the USC Arlan Jondonero claimed that with each member of the CMCSC heading two committees, it became difficult to lobby the campaigns of the council.

CAL candidate, complainants address politicking allegations

Involved parties responded to allegations against Selina Lugtu, a KALikha candidate for the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Representative to the University Student Council (USC), who was accused of politically-motivated conspiracy in her former organization.

This comes following the release of the formal letter “#ConsiderOurStory” released on Facebook on April 2, Tuesday. In it, 23 concerned members of the non-partisan, university-wide student organization UP Lingua Franca (UPLF) said Lugtu took part in politicking by assigning committee delegations based on political creed.
