KAISA UP bet and incumbent USC vice-chair Sean Thakur will serve as the next USC chairperson after earning 3,538 votes, beating STAND UP’s Flor Manalo with 2,168 votes and UP ALYANSA candidate and incumbent USC chairperson Kisha Beringuela who gained 1,872 votes.
Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP (STAND UP) clinched the most number of seats for the next academic year’s UP Diliman University Student Council (USC), securing 13 out of 33 positions.
Meanwhile, STAND UP managed to win the USC vice chair post after Kenneth Eser Jose was able to secure 3,374 votes, outnumbering KAISA and ALYANSA bets with 1,891 and 1,843 votes, respectively.
KAISA UP clinched the top councilor post with Jesus Reyna III garnering 3,995 votes, followed by UP ALYANSA’s Hernan Delizo with 3,448 votes and STAND UP’s Tierone James Santos who earned 3,207 votes.
STAND UP claimed seven seats in the councilor race and five in the college representatives post. Meanwhile, UP ALYANSA claimed six seats consisting of three councilors and three college representatives.
A total of 8,564 out of 20, 964 registered voters participated in this year’s elections, resulting in 40.85 percent total voter turnout, 2.03 percent lower than last year’s 42.88.
