The perfect move: Transit’s journey to the Oscars

The young filmmaker said Transit was inspired by one her travels to Israel, as her family makes a living from organizing tours to the Holy Land. “During one of my trips to Israel, I met an OFW who was bringing his baby to Manila because of the deportation law. Curious, I started doing research with my co-writer Gian Abrahan and we started writing a story based on that,” she recalled.

Last Wednesday afternoon, Political Science professor Dr. Perlita Frago-Marasigan was reportedly attacked and robbed at the Palma Hall (AS) parking lot. Initial reports said she was handcuffed and driven around the campus by still unidentified men before taking her possessions and leaving her in broad daylight.

UP Pep Squad’s recipe for redemption: Lessons from the cheerdance mat

It has been two weeks since they placed first runner-up at the UAAP 76 Cheerdance Competition, held at the Mall of Asia Arena last Sept.15, following a three-peat championship reign. There was no room to brood over the loss as they are now back to training – this time in preparation for the World Cheerleading Championships in Thailand on November, where the UP Pep Squad will represent the Philippines.

A home in the heart of an academic jungle

The word today flashed before him in black ink, between minor distractions and talks about his ‘sweetheart.’

The boy, no older than four, smiled bashfully at a student-teacher who continued to watch him closely, her patience constant and firm amidst the little kid’s blabbering about puppy love. She smiled back at him, coaxing and telling the little boy that she will call his sweetheart for him.

Ibong Adarna: Redefined

So, what distinguishes the play from the book?

The plot may be the same, but the difference lies in the dialogues and characterization. The select use of modern Filipino, coupled with the olden mother tongue, made the contextualization of scenes easier.

What made Adarna more remarkable was its use of shadow animation, which made the play more fun to watch.
