Led by many-time UAAP cheerdance champions University of the Philippines Pep Squad, the Philippine Cheerleading Team bagged the third place in the Cheer Mixed category of the sixth Cheerleading World Championships in Hong Kong Sunday.
The team, which debuted in the competition this year, is also composed of members of the cheering squads from the Centro Escolar University and Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
“Our kids had a perfect run and we are happy” UP Art Studies professor Eloi Hernandez, who was with the team in Hong Kong, said on Twitter. “Great exhilirating run by the #UPPepSquad.”
Over 70 teams from more than 20 countries such as Japan, Thailand, China, Chinese Taipei, United Kingdom, Ecuador, Greece, Slovenia, Indonesia, Peru, Poland, Germany, and Hong Kong participated in the event held at the Hong Kong Coliseum over the weekend.
