Party politics has hindered student leaders from serving the students, said the independent candidates for University Student Council (USC) councilor in separate interviews. The candidates earlier said during a Feb. 12 forum at Kalayaan Residence Hall that they did not need parties to win.

Past experiences of student leaders in the College of Human Kinetics (CHK) student council have led to lack of interest among students to run for the positions. “Nobody wants to run since the council is usually overworked,” Marla Cuerdo, CHK Student Relations Officer said.
