Despite their gallant effort, the University of the Philippines (UP) Kyorugi Team fell short of a podium finish at the UAAP Season 81 Taekwondo Tournament on Friday, November 9, at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

On day three of the tournament, the men’s team lost to National University (NU), 2-5, and to University of Santo Tomas (UST), 2-5.

The women’s team prevailed over Far Eastern University (FEU) with a 6-0 sweep and won against Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU), 4-3.

The men and women’s team both had a 3-3 win-loss record, finishing in fourth place.

National University (NU) bagged the championship title for both the men and women’s division. 

The Maroon jins garnered awards in their respective weight categories, bagging one gold, three silvers, and two bronzes.

Beatrice Gaerlan claimed the gold medal in the bantamweight category.

Rookie Cassandra Florencio, Men’s skipper Joko Silverio, and Karlos Gaerlan settled for silver in their respective divisions.

Amber Acosta and Josiah Cabanag finished with bronze medals. TNP
