The University of the Philippines failed its attempt to seize a third win after a 1-0 loss to league-leading Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 76 Men’s Football Tournament Sunday at the FEU-Diliman pitch.

Despite playing minus one man after rookie Reymart Cubon was given red card early in the second half, the Tamaraws held on as Eric Giganto capitalized on an attack in the 77th minute to score the lone goal of the match.

The Tamaraw’s defense, spearheaded by Alex Rayos and Arnel Amita, then remained tough surviving all attacks by the Maroons in the remainder of the game.

Maroon midfielder Carlos Monfort came close to netting a goal in the 67th minute but his free kick went off the bar.

FEU improved to 15 points on an immaculate 5-0 card while sending the Maroons in the fifth place with six points.

The Maroons will face the University of Sto. Tomas  for its last game of the year at the FEU Diliman Football Field, Wednesday.
