Junior journalism major Maria Jorica B. Pamintuan bested six other candidates to become the new editor-in-chief of Tinig ng Plaridel, the official student publication of the College of Mass Communication.

Garnering an average score of 75.05 percent, Pamintuan ranked first in this year’s TNP Editorial Examination held Feb. 21, which served as a comprehensive gauge of the candidates’ skills in editorial writing, editorial judgment, news and feature writing, editing, layout and design, and ethics.

In second place is Marc Jayson Cayabyab, with a score of 72.25 percent. Other applicants were Mikhail Franz Flores, Jon Lindley Agustin, Xianne Arcangel, Nikki Careen Palacios, and James Relativo.

The Editorial Examination board of judges was composed of professors  Yvonne Chua and Lourdes Simbulan of the Department of Journalism, senior journalism major Kim Arveen Patria, outgoing Philippine Collegian editor-in-chief Pauline Gidget Estella, and outgoing TNP editor-in-chief Franz Jonathan de la Fuente.
