Quezon City police filed criminal charges Monday against the bus driver who rammed a taxi from behind and killed veteran journalist and University of the Philippines Professor Lourdes Simbulan.
Daniel Espinosa was charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide for Simbulan’s death and damage to property for wrecking the Abu Abbey taxi. The Universal Guiding Star driver could face up to four years and two months in prison.
However, Espinosa remains at large despite police and the bus company’s efforts to locate him.
Simbulan was cremated Tuesday. Her ashes will be brought to the College of Mass Communication for a memorial service on Wednesday.
