Lady Archers pound Lady Maroons to remain unbeaten

By Maria Luisa Morales

The UP Lady Maroons bowed down to DLSU Lady Archers, 65-46, at the Araneta Coliseum, Saturday, Sept. 10.

The Lady Archers remain unbeaten as they outplayed the Lady Maroons, handing UP their second straight loss for the season.

DLSU started the game strong, with UP trailing behind 9-2, but the Lady Maroons managed to comeback late in the first quarter with an 11-2 run.

Tight defense from the Lady Maroons caused DLSU to settle for jumpers and three-pointers. By the end of one, UP was within two, 17-15.

The Lady Archers dominated the second quarter, with UP getting outscored 23-6. By the half, DLSU was up by 19.

Despite good free throw shooting from UP, turnover woes continued to haunt them throughout the game.

The story was the same for the second half, with aggressive play from the Lady Archers even if they enjoyed the big lead.

“I think the final score can speak for itself. We weren’t able to sustain our intensity and our focus,” said Lady Maroons Captain Maria Wong.

“In the first quarter, we were able to play with the same intensity as La Salle… I think that’s what we’re still working on, to not give up from the start,” she added.

Wong led UP with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Bennette Revillosa paced the Lady Archers with 13 points and 4 boards. #
