UP Lady Shuttlers remain unbeaten, edge out UST

The UP Women’s Badminton Team booked a spot in the next round as they surprisingly nipped powerhouse UST Tigresses on Sunday, 3-2, to remain unbeaten in the UAAP Season 77 badminton tournament at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

MANILA – The UP Women’s Badminton Team booked a spot in the next round as they surprisingly nipped powerhouse UST Tigresses on Sunday, 3-2, to remain unbeaten in the UAAP Season 77 badminton tournament at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

Their Male counterpart also won against Far Eastern University Tamaraws in dominating fashion, 5-0.

The Bulldogs and the Green Archers emerged victorious against University of the East and University of Santo Tomas, respectively, via similar 5-0 scores to extend their perfect run to five games.

The Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles remain in third place with a 4-1 card while the Fighting Maroons is tied with the Growling Tigers in fourth spot at 2-3. 

Meanwhile, the Falcons and the Red Warriors dropped to 1-4 standing, while the Tamaraws remained winless in five matches.

Women’s defending champions Ateneo also held a semifinals berth with a 4-1 win over Adamson. They now hold a 4-1 slate.

La Salle won over NU, 3-2, while FEU tripped UE, 4-1, to tie UST in third to fifth spots at 3-2, making the race to the semifinals too close to call.

The Lady Falcons and the Lady Warriors are tied at 1-4, while the Lady Bulldogs is still fighting for their first win, 0-5.
