The College of Mass Communication Wildcats shook off a slow start to beat the College of Education (Educ) team, 53-34, at the College of Human Kinetics Gymnasium, February 12, posting their second win of the season.
Ermin Gabuat led Educ with 12 points, while Mark Manalang led the Wildcats with 10 points.
The Educ team was able to maintain the lead in the 1st quarter, but the Wildcats were able to seize this after a series of shots in the final moments of the quarter. This became the spark for the Wildcats’ scoring streak which gave them the lead until the end of the match.
As their season comes to an end, the Wildcats are satisfied with how they performed in this year’s basketball tournament in the Diliman Games, and acknowledge the room for improvement in the team. “We played good. We had our ups and downs. But we can play better, so much better than what we showed this season,” Julio Silvestre said.
The CMC Wildcats previously beat the Asian Institute of Tourism last Feb. 5, 62-42.
Silvestre assured a better performance next season. Addressing his fellow CMC students, Silvestre promised, “Next season, hopefully, the Wildcats will learn from their mistakes.”
